In 2017, the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) created the Community Collective Impact Model for Change (CCIM4C), a new initiative using collective impact approaches that was aimed at bringing people together at the community and state level to address opioid use disorder deaths and access to treatment, while supporting integration and coordination among systems. The initiative funded 21 Ohio communities across two cohorts to use collective impact approaches and other frameworks such as SAMHSA’s SPF to create ecosystems and data-driven strategic plans to address opioid disorder deaths and to increase access to treatment. PIRE, in partnership with Ohio University, collaborated with OhioMHAS to facilitate state-level planning and implementation of the initiative, while also developing training, materials, and support services to foster the Collective Impact approach, increase local capacity, and support communities in the overall goals of reducing OUD deaths and increasing access to treatment.
