This study involved community mobilization and environmental strategies in medical and home environments to reduce availability of prescription drugs in the home for nonmedical use by teens in an Appalachian Tennessee county. The interventions implemented in these two environments included materials and information to help medical professionals advocate for parents and others to safeguard four categories of abusable medications (sleeping medications, sedatives, pain medications, and stimulants) in the home.
