The specific aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of International DARE four years after implementation in selective schools in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Eighth graders in 25 public schools that participated in the DARE program in the fifth grade were compared with 8th graders attending a matched group of 25 public schools that have not participated in the DARE program. We also compared 8th graders’ perceptions and behavior that attend 25 public schools with 8th graders in seven private schools that participated in the DARE program.
