Working as a subcontractor for the Center for Women and Families and in partnership with Volunteers of America Mid-States, PIRE-Louisville helped to fund a $1.3M initiative to tackle the co-occurring HIV and Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Risk Among Women in Kentucky. Evidence shows that women who experience violence are more likely to experience factors known to increase the risk for HIV transmission and that women living with HIV are more likely to experience violence. By increasing collaboration and comprehensive, compassionate services, the initiative aims to facilitate screening, treatment, and response options for HIV and IPV in the community.
